The Seventh Simple Machine: A New Kind of Mechanics

For thousands of years, we have used the six simple machines to shape our environment. In the last two hundred years, we’ve combined the simple machines to create complex mechanical devices: clocks, orreries, automobiles, merry-go-rounds.

Did we miss something? Are there things we can’t build with the six simple machines?

Tonight, we will look for the seventh simple machine.

If the 7th simple machine is The Plane, I suggest that the 8th is The Memory

Check out http://particularconcepts.com. It resurrects a "new" (patented) seventh simple machine probably used by the Ancient Egyptians to move and erect granite Obelisks. School marmish, but fun.
